Fitness & Time Management
If you’re struggling to find time to work on the things you want to prioritise, such as your fitness, hobby, or a project your working on, it’s most likely a lack of effective time management rather than lack of time itself. This doesn’t mean you have to schedule every hour of your day into segmented blocks, life simply doesn’t play by those rules. However, you can certainly get time on your side by taking a few steps towards finding out what should take priority in your day.
To make a start, draw out the 2 x 2 table below. Once you start to group your tasks into their respective sections, it becomes clear what should be taking priority.
Once you’ve completed all important tasks (probably not as painful as you thought, its only one section after all) move onto box 2, don’t give it a chance to upgrade to “due soon”. It’s that simple, and the best part is, you don’t even have to complete box 4. Why not? It’s not important and is not due soon...it says so in the chart!
If you find yourself often with a clouded head, full of tasks and no idea where to start, this is a great way to allow yourself to focus on what really matters for your goals. It takes less than five minutes, and you’ll be surprised how much you can get done when your aiming to tick that one item of your list and not worrying about all the other things that simply may not matter.
